Eugenio Suárez, a third baseman for the Arizona Diamondbacks in Major League Baseball, has represented Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic and frequently credits his faith following key performances.[1][4]
Suárez featured for Venezuela in the 2023 World Baseball Classic Pool B at loanDepot park in Miami, Florida, including a March 11 matchup against the United States, which the U.S. won 9-7.[2][5] He went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in the first inning.[5]
loanDepot park will again host the semifinals and final of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, scheduled from early to late March 2026. Venezuela is placed in Pool C in San Juan, Puerto Rico.[3]
In a post-season interview, Suárez stated: "God is good. All the glory to God. I’m very thankful to him."[4] He has emphasized gratitude and faith amid career milestones, including multiple 30-home-run seasons.
Suárez, 33, debuted in MLB with the Detroit Tigers in 2013 and has played for several clubs. Entering 2025, he has 1,031 career hits and 321 home runs.[1]
