Guardiola’s Next Move: Noel Gallagher Sees England Role

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will leave the club this summer after ten seasons. Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher, a personal acquaintance, told talkSPORT that he expects Guardiola to pursue the one major honour still absent from his record: the World Cup, and that the England post could be a logical destination.

Guardiola’s departure follows an official club announcement confirming his exit after a decade in which City secured twenty major trophies. Gallagher described the change as the end of an era of near-certain silverware and said the club must now reset under chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak while Guardiola moves into a global ambassador position within the City Football Group.

Gallagher added that Guardiola’s influence on English football will remain significant and expressed hope that his knowledge will continue to be available to the club in a capacity similar to Johan Cruyff’s long-term advisory role at Barcelona. He also noted that Guardiola could manage another leading side or a national team outside England.

Current England manager Thomas Tuchel faces mounting pressure ahead of the World Cup in North America. Former player Troy Deeney has stated that failure to win the tournament should cost Tuchel his job, opening the possibility that the Football Association may seek a successor after the competition.
